Biography
The Swedish punk outfit the Satanic Surfers took shape in autumn 1989 when singer Erik and drummer Rodrigo laid its foundation. Guitarists Frederick and Magnus, plus bassist Tomek, completed the early roster, yet the group’s first recording, Skate to Hell, surfaced only in 1993. Ulf assumed vocal duties in place of Erik for the 1994 successor Keep Out. After Ulf exited, Rodrigo accepted the frontman role on the following year’s Hero of Our Time. The band delivered 666 Motor Inn in 1997; once 1999’s Going Nowhere Fast was finished, Tomek departed and bassist Matthias stepped in. Songs from the Crypt and Fragments and Fractions both appeared in mid-2000. Drummer Martin Svensson was added for live work, after which the musicians returned to the studio in early 2002. The resulting album Unconsciously Confined reached listeners that spring.
