Biography
Santa Rosa, California-based punk revivalists Diesel Boy—distinct from the techno DJ known as Dieselboy—came together in 1993. Their debut 7" single appeared in 1996 on Fat Wreck Chords, followed later that same year by the full-length Cock Rock on Honest Don's Hardly Used Records. The album showcased vocalist/guitarist Dave Lake, guitarist Justin Werth, bassist Greg Hensley, and drummer Mike Schaus. Venus Envy, the band's second album, arrived in 1997; drummer Mike Schaus then departed and was succeeded by Geoff Lackey, previously a member of Shyster. With this updated roster the group released Sofa King Cool in 1999. Early in 2001 they issued Rode Hard and Put Away Wet, produced by Ryan Greene (NOFX, Lagwagon), while the Double Letter Score split with Divit surfaced that October on Berkeley's Coldfront Records.
