Biography
Dillinja stands out as one of jungle music's most productive creators, having placed material on more than ten imprints, two of them founded by the artist himself. Few drum'n'bass figures allocate as much time to the studio as he does, rather than to club appearances. While based in Brixton during the early 1990s, he was introduced to the genre by nearby resident DJ Bryan G. Captivated by the drum'n'bass aesthetic, Dillinja began recording in 1991 and issued tracks on Cybotron, Intelligent IQ, Conqueror, Logic, Lionheart, V, Philly Blunt, and his own Deadly Vinyl label. His 1994 release "The Angels Fell" on Goldie's Metalheadz label positioned him among jungle's leading names. Together with associate Lemon D., who had also recorded for Metalheadz, he launched Valve Records, an outlet that broadened drum'n'bass through the addition of ancient analogue sequences. Although he secured a long-term contract with the major London label, a planned album was ultimately shelved, leading him instead to deliver multiple singles on the Test imprint throughout 1998-99.
