Fabio stands out as a trailblazing figure among breakbeat DJs, and together with Grooverider he introduced drum'n'bass to British nightlife. Having started behind the decks during the early '80s rare-groove and hip-hop eras, he was born in London and spent his formative years in Brixton. After attending college briefly and holding a job as an insurance agent, he soon shifted his focus entirely to a growing career behind the turntables. A dedicated soul enthusiast and longtime acquaintance of fellow selectors Colin Dale and Tim Westwood, Fabio first gained recognition on the pirate radio outlet Phase 1 and developed a passion for house music by 1986.

Alongside Grooverider he organized multiple well-attended after-hours house gatherings throughout the late '80s. In the early '90s the pair launched two landmark drum'n'bass residencies, Rage and Speed. The former allowed them to inject the initial darkside strain into hardcore techno, whereas Speed saw Fabio and L.T.J Bukem guiding an ever more exploratory branch of the scene. Although he focused primarily on mixing while Grooverider built a production discography, Fabio and his Creative Source imprint played a vital role in nurturing early work from talents such as Alex Reece, Wax Doctor and Hidden Agenda. He was additionally tapped to compile the second installment of the Promised Land mix-album series.
