Biography
Downway, a quartet based in Calgary, formed during 1995 in the wake of S.P.I. and Blind Hate dissolving. Their foundation in hardcore and pop-punk led Dave Jr. to guitar, Dave Holmes to bass, Isaac to drums, and Ryan to vocals. Hourglass Records issued the debut Downway Is As Downway Does just four months after the group assembled. Tours alongside Dayglow Abortions and Diesel Boy prompted Hourglass to deliver the follow-up Knacknacker in 1998, an album later handled for distribution by Seattle-based 206 Records. The third release, Never Be Clever Again, surfaced in late 2000.
