Burning Tree

Burning Tree originated in Los Angeles during the closing years of the 1980s as a retro-rock power trio whose members were Marc Ford on guitar and vocals, Mark Dutton on bass, and Doni Gray on drums, with their sound shaped by foundational 1960s groups including Cream, Taste, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Epic Records signed the band, resulting in the 1990 appearance of their self-titled debut, which drew strong critical approval and led directly into a twelve-month tour that included opening dates for the Black Crowes. The Crowes subsequently invited Ford in 1992 to fill the spot left by original guitarist Jeff Cease, launching a nine-year association whose demands brought Burning Tree’s brief existence to an end. Gray later played in Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds.
