Colby Acuff emerged as a country singer shaped by the Rocky Mountains, where his direct and grounded songwriting pairs with a neo-traditionalist approach that feels rooted and genuine. Raised in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the artist put out three independent records, one of which was the widely praised If I Were the Devil from 2021, before signing with Sony Music Nashville and issuing the outlaw-leaning Western White Pines in 2023.

A fourth-generation Idaho native, Acuff grew up immersed in hunting, fishing, and the classic sounds of Waylon, Willie, Flatt & Scruggs, and Bill Monroe. Picking up multiple instruments on his own, he first performed onstage at age 12 and began composing at 15, drawing motivation from boundary-pushers such as Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers. Though he pursued economics in college, the pull of nine-to-five work proved weak, leading him instead to guide fly-fishing trips during daylight hours while refining his material in nightspots.

Issued in December 2020, his unvarnished first album Life of a Rolling Stone arrived just before pandemic restrictions took hold. With live shows canceled, Acuff shifted focus to his next project, resulting in the more assured If I Were the Devil, whose songs resonated widely through streaming platforms, notably the tracks “Dying Breed” and the atmospheric title cut that blended traditional country with expansive Americana textures. Honky Tonk Heaven followed in 2022, leaning into rowdy barroom energy on numbers such as “Bad Day to Be a Beer” and “Once in a Lifetime.” After securing his Sony Music Nashville contract and relocating to Music City, Acuff delivered Western White Pines in 2023. Working alongside producer and engineer Eddie Spear—known for his work with Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, and Cody Jinks—he crafted a collection of raw, honest material that captured the spirit of the American West.
