Commander Tom

During the mid- to late 1990s, as trance and techno steadily diverged, Commander Tom bridged the widening divide between the two styles. A German producer, DJ, and label head, he crafted tracks that merged both genres into one distinctive sound he made his signature. He presented this hybrid approach through mix compilations, chief among them the extended Commander Tom in the Mix series. His Noom imprint emerged as an influential home for his own output and for releases by other producers working in a comparable vein. In addition, Commander Tom established himself as a top-tier DJ who performed across the globe. Starting in 1996, he issued yearly installments of the Commander Tom in the Mix series.
