Coultrain

Left-of-center R&B songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Coultrain, born Aaron Michael Frison, hails from St. Louis, Missouri. Before issuing his conceptual and cerebral debut full-length, The Adventures of Seymour Liberty, in January 2008, he surfaced on projects by the likes of the One, via a Waajeed remix, and Nato Caliph. Further guest spots on recordings by Gotta Be Karim, I, Ced, PPP, and J-1 aka the Deer, together with the full-length efforts Mugpush and Hawthorne Headhunters, paved the way for his sophomore album. That effort, Jungle Mumbo Jumbo, arrived in April 2013 through the Plug Research imprint, which also houses Hawthorne Headhunters along with other soul-rooted, boundary-pushing artists such as Shafiq Husayn, Bilal, and Anthony Valadez.
