Biography
Dallas Kohelke, working under the name DallasK, functions as a DJ, producer, singer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. His take on electro house leans toward pop song forms, and his earliest DallasK mixes surfaced in 2010. Within several years he began working alongside Tiësto and Hardwell, then shifted toward more vocal pop material that placed him in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “All My Life” in 2018 and again with “Try Again” in 2021.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Kohelke started producing and DJ’ing while still in his teens. Funkk Sound Recordings issued his debut single “Hyphy” in 2011; he quickly followed with releases on Burn the Fire and Bazooka Records before the year closed. Kindergarten Recordings released “Vice” and “Alienz” in the first half of 2013, the latter drawing sufficient interest for the label to commission a remix EP. That July he delivered an expansive remix of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” after which he reworked tracks by Bloc Party, Coldplay, Ghost Beach, and Disclosure. In 2014 he joined Henry Fong for “Blackmail” and KSHMR for “Burn (Let Your Mind Go).” The Tiësto collaboration “Show Me” appeared in 2015 and became his strongest streaming release to date. Later that year he teamed with Hardwell on “Area51,” then reunited with Tiësto for “Your Love” in 2016, both issued on Musical Freedom Records in the Netherlands. Solo singles and a consistent flow of remixes continued throughout.
Early 2018 marked his first releases as singer and pop songwriter. Retaining prominent bass while adding guitar and simpler drum patterns plus his own vocals, the ballad “Self Control” and the club-oriented “All My Life” arrived together in February. Both tracks were co-written with Sarah Hudson and Clarence Coffee, Jr., each of whom has written for Justin Bieber and other major acts. “All My Life” reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Subsequent singles included “Looking for Your Love,” “I Know,” and “Sometimes,” the last a collaboration with Nicky Romero and XYLO. Mid-2021 brought a career-best number 16 placement on the dance/electronic chart with “Try Again” featuring Lauv.
