Biography
Guitarist Chris Poland departed Megadeth in 1987 and followed that move with the solo release Return to Metalopolis in 1990. Three years afterward he assembled Damn the Machine, featuring drummer Mark Poland—his brother—alongside Dave Clemmons on vocals and guitar and bassist David Randi. Although the outfit remained grounded in heavy metal, its style tilted more progressive than Megadeth, drawing clear parallels to Queensryche and Fates Warning. The band endured only long enough to issue a lone self-titled album on the A&M label in 1993 before dissolving. Clemmons later resurfaced with Jud, while Chris Poland joined the jazz-rock group Ohm.
