Biography
Born on July 31, 1995, in Arona, Italy, singer Daniele Negroni arrived in Germany during early childhood. His involvement with music began in high school through singing and drumming. The ninth season of Deutschland Sucht den Superstar placed him second overall, the achievement for which he remains best recognized. His 2012 appearance on DSDS ended in defeat to Luca Hänni. Negroni then issued his debut single, a cover of Hänni’s “Don’t Think About Me” featured in the finale, though the track drew sharp criticism for echoing Pietro Lombardi’s “Call My Name” from the preceding season. Despite the backlash, it reached number four in Germany, number three in Austria, and number two in Switzerland, while Hänni’s version claimed the top position in all three territories. After signing with Universal, he released his first album, Crazy, produced by Dieter Bohlen; it entered the Austrian charts at number one and reached number two in both Germany and Switzerland, where it placed behind Hänni’s My Name Is Luca. In 2013 Negroni followed with the album Bulletproof, which climbed to number seven on the German charts and number five in Austria yet only managed number 38 in Switzerland. The project yielded the single “Hold on My Heart,” which entered the German Top 40.
