Biography
Deadsy merged progressive rock sensibilities with the dense aggression of 1990s metal and industrial sounds when they issued their debut record in the first half of 1997. Toward the end of that year the group joined the Gary Numan tribute album Random, delivering a cover of his composition “Replicas.” Plans called for Commencement to appear in 1999 under the banner of Elementree, the imprint launched by Korn, yet the finished album was abruptly withdrawn from stores while the musicians kept pushing their material through constant road work. High-visibility festival slots and package tours sustained steady activity, though recurring setbacks involving personnel shifts and site maintenance hindered progress and left the record in limbo. Only in summer 2002 did Commencement finally reach stores, its rollout underscored by the band’s Korn affiliation. Phantasmagore followed in summer 2006.
