Deb Never

Songwriter and vocalist Deb Never has joined forces with BROCKHAMPTON and Lava La Rue while crafting her own bedroom pop, pulling from sources as varied as '90s rave textures and emo-rap textures, occasionally inside one track. Following the online circulation of assorted tracks and demos, her first EP, House on Wheels, appeared in 2019.

Born in Spokane, Washington, she later relocated to Los Angeles and took on work as a session guitarist. Starting in 2017 she began uploading solo-song demos under the Deb Never name as well as the shorter Never. Her initial public link to the WeDidIt Records circle came via a 2018 partnership with producer D33J, and the collective signed her the following year. Throughout 2019 she appeared on the BROCKHAMPTON cut "No Halo" and joined the group onstage from time to time; that same year she issued House on Wheels, an assortment of moody downtempo material and light trap-pop beats. A remix of the EP track "Same," now featuring Tommy Genesis, followed soon afterward, and in March 2020 she teamed with Kenny Beats for "Stone Cold." May 2020 brought the Intermission mixtape, assembled from recordings made in the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 track "Someone Else" then emerged, blending early-Radiohead-style melodies with passages of drum'n'bass pulse.
