As Brooklyn drill gained wider visibility during the first years of the decade, Dee Billz established himself as a steady presence in the movement, initially through ties to the emerging collective 41 and later as the primary voice on the neighborhood favorite “Beckham.”

Born Dylan Robertson, Billz gained traction at the same time as 41, having connected the three members—rappers Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, and TaTa—who were all developing their careers in Brooklyn’s Brownsville section. He joined them on the 2023 cut “Stomp Stomp” and supplied guest verses for fellow Brownsville artists YoungPrototype, Mac Glizz, and JayGelato, drawing attention for a flexible style that shifted between rapid and measured cadences as well as melodic and rhythmic approaches. The same range shaped his own releases, beginning with the 2023 single “Thooties” that included Carter and continuing through 2024’s “Karma” featuring G5AZO, before reaching its widest audience with “Beckham,” a buoyant team-up alongside KJ Swervo that spread rapidly across social platforms that summer.
