Originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the provocative French rapper Despo Rutti, whose birth name is Pascal Trésor Azu'Simba, took up rap during the mid-1990s and produced his initial recordings before the decade concluded. His output commenced in 2006 with Les Sirènes du Charbon, followed by a series of mixtapes, street albums, and studio albums such as Convictions Suicidaires along with Discographie Parallèle in 2010, and Les Funérailles des Tabous in 2013. Through these projects, he established a name for himself by tackling contentious topics head-on, expressing candid opinions across subjects like economics, religion, and misuse of power.
