Biography
Guitarist Shaun Glass formed the Chicago heavy metal outfit Dirge Within during 2008 after leaving the commercial nu metal act SOiL, an outfit that followed his earlier stint in the '90s death metal group Broken Hope. What began as a casual songwriting collaboration between Glass and ex-Blank Theory drummer James Knight gradually took shape once vocalist Jeremy "Jerms" Genske joined, with guitar work later supplied by Matt Szlachta and bass duties handled by Brian Paz. The resulting quintet’s groove-heavy brand of modern metal soon attracted E1 Records, which issued the band’s debut album, Force Fed Lies, in September 2009.
