Biography
Brighton quintet DITZ fuse noise rock with propulsive punk in their recordings, while their concerts toggle between tightly controlled dynamics and outright disorder. The group unveiled its first long-player, The Great Regression, in 2022 before delivering the follow-up, Never Exhale, at the start of 2025.
The lineup coalesced in Brighton during 2016 when Cal Francis (vocals), Jack Looker (guitar), Anton Morcock (guitar), Caleb Remnant (bass), and Sam Evans (drums) came together after witnessing a METZ performance. Pooling their wide-ranging musical influences, they began forging a sound that blended noise rock and driving punk, quickly establishing themselves on the circuit through explosive stage shows. Their opening release, EP1, surfaced the same year, and while holding down day jobs the members performed whenever schedules allowed. After several singles over the ensuing period, they signed with Alcopop! and put out “Total 90” in 2019. Work on a full-length ensued, culminating in the arrival of The Great Regression in 2022. Extensive touring across Europe and the U.K. occupied 2023, during which the live document On the Bai’ou also appeared. In January 2024 the band entered the studio with producer Seth Manchester (Battles, the Body) to track its second album. Once tracking concluded, the musicians tested the new songs on stage before completing the mix a few months afterward. Continued road work that year included European support slots for IDLES alongside numerous headline dates. Fresh tracks emerged in October, beginning with “Space/Smile” and swiftly followed by “Taxi Man” and “Four.” Never Exhale reached listeners in early 2025.
