DJ GIRL

DJ Girl crafts freewheeling experimental dance music that pulls from techno, electro, and footwork along with IDM, noise, and industrial. The artist, raised in Detroit, established the Eat Dis label and put out multiple EPs ahead of Planet Mu's release of the debut LP Hellworld in 2023.

Terri Shaska began under the moniker tchan and launched digital EPs starting in 2016 that blended juke, gabber, and ghettotech into a raw, kinetic sound. She also launched the weekly online radio program Terrible Tuesdays. In 2018 she created Eat Dis as a netlabel showcasing tracks from artists she regularly performs alongside and airs on her broadcasts. Around the same time she adopted the name DJ Girl and put out EPs including Transition that year, plus splits and joint tracks with DJ FLP, Elevation, DJ Headwound, and additional collaborators. She relocated from Detroit to Chicago and later to Austin. In 2021 the vinyl records DJ Girl EP and SLSK Trax surfaced, expanding her audience, before Hellworld appeared on Planet Mu in 2023 and merged Midwestern dance influences with Miami bass.
