Chicago-based singer/songwriter Dreamer Isioma first gained widespread attention through the 2020 single "Sensitive," fusing alternative R&B and funk alongside traces of hip-hop and a hazy strain of psychedelic dream pop. That same adventurous blend carried through the 2021 EP Crying in the Club and the full-length debut Goodnight Dreamer, issued in 2022.

Born and raised in Chicago to Nigerian parents, Isioma started shaping a creative identity during adolescence by experimenting with filmmaking before shifting focus to music. Drawing from fellow unconventional Chicago figures such as Chief Keef and Tyler, the Creator, the artist self-taught vocal performance, rapping, and guitar, resulting in the singular mix showcased on the debut EP Sensitive. When that project arrived in 2020, its title track exploded into a viral sensation that propelled Isioma’s career forward. Still in 2020, the atmospheric follow-up "Stop Calling the Police on Me" sustained the rising profile and paved the way for Crying in the Club, whose highlight "HUH?" stood out as a party anthem. Early the next year, Isioma delivered the stylistically expansive debut album Goodnight Dreamer, an adventurous set marked by vivid textures and unconventional structures.
