Biography
Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Lennon Kloser conceived Kid Bloom, which surfaced in 2016 with a sonic identity rooted in 1970s and 1980s pop, electronic textures, and psych-inflected indie rock. Following a period of independent output that kept the project just below widespread attention, the acclaimed Blood Sugar EP from 2020 propelled Kid Bloom into broader visibility, while the full-length debut Highway surfaced two years later.
Kloser, responsible for the bulk of songwriting and production duties, assembled the outfit in 2015. Drawing from sources as varied as Tame Impala, the Weeknd, Travis Scott, Big Star, and David Bowie, Kid Bloom issued its first EP, A Different State of Mind, in 2016. The title track accumulated extensive streams, quickly elevating Kloser and his collaborators to in-demand status both domestically and internationally. The following year brought the disco-leaning A Long Kiss Goodbye EP. Lemonhead, released in 2019, further refined and expanded the project’s retro-futuristic sonic palette, a direction echoed in the fleeting Blood Sugar set of 2020. The funky psych-pop single “Control” appeared in 2021, preceding Kid Bloom’s inaugural long-player, Highway, which arrived the next year.
