Dylan Cartlidge works as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose sound blends vintage soul and rock with the edge of working-class hip-hop. After appearing on BBC Two's The Mighty Redcar, he secured a major publishing agreement while the series was still being filmed and released the Monsters Under the Bed EP via Glassnote Records in 2019.

At age 13 Cartlidge penned his earliest raps, then immersed himself fully in music the following year once he relocated to Redcar, the coastal town in North Yorkshire, England. A few years later he began handling production duties as well. Halftime Music placed his first recordings—"Love Spoons" and "Strawberry Blonde's Snip"—in 2017. The three-song EP Scratch, Sniff arrived in 2018. That same year BBC Two aired the BAFTA-nominated documentary series The Mighty Redcar, whose opening episode presented Cartlidge among the industrious residents of the post-industrial community. The resulting exposure, paired with his Universal publishing contract, prompted the 2019 arrival of the four-track Monsters Under the Bed EP.
