Citing touchstones such as Mac DeMarco, John Lennon, and Kevin Parker, London-based Oscar Lang crafts an eclectic bedroom-pop sound that shifts between murky lo-fi introspection, playful chiptune-infused bangers, and psychedelic excursions. During his teenage years he built an online audience, leading to a deal with Dirty Hit Records and strong streaming numbers for the tracks “She Likes Another Boy” and “The Moon Song,” the latter recorded with labelmate Beabadoobee. Following a string of singles and EPs, he issued his debut album Chew the Scenery in 2021 to widespread critical praise, then continued releasing material that included the 2023 single “A Song About Me.”

A multi-instrumentalist who started composing at age 11, Lang began putting out music in 2016. Still in high school, he issued the projects Teenage Hurt and Silk under the alias Pig, attracting listeners with experimental pop that chronicled adolescent boredom and isolation. His 2017 rendition of Karen O’s “The Moon Song,” performed with fellow bedroom-pop artist Beabadoobee, quickly went viral and accumulated millions of streams; by 2019 both musicians had joined the London roster of Dirty Hit.

Lang’s first Dirty Hit release under his own name was the Bops, Etc. EP, after which he joined Beabadoobee and No Rome on a U.K. package tour. In 2020 he unveiled the more psychedelic Hand Over Your Head EP, which highlighted a fuller, more dynamic band sound. The following year saw the arrival of his debut LP Chew the Scenery, a critical favorite that showcased his breadth of tone; a deluxe edition appeared in 2022 while he prepared new material. Throughout 2023 singles such as “Everything Unspoken” and “A Song About Me” paved the way for his sophomore album Look Now.
