The indie pop quartet Spinn, originating from Liverpool, draws on the jangly 1980s textures of Orange Juice, the Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the Cure to shape its own infectious, melody-driven songs. After establishing themselves as local favorites, the members issued their self-titled debut album while still in their early twenties.

Schoolfriends Johnny Quinn (vocals), Andy Power (guitar), and bassist Sean McLachlan formed the group in 2015. When their first drummer departed to enter the police force, the remaining members met Louis O'Reilly on the street, noticed the drumsticks he was carrying, and invited him to join. Initially operating as the mod outfit the Spinning Tops, they later shortened the name, abandoned the suits, and preserved the jangly pop approach that became their hallmark.

Choosing straightforward pop songwriting over any attempt to appear cool, they steadily expanded a following both locally and nationally through nonstop live shows and consistent social media visibility. Their self-released, self-titled debut EP arrived in 2017, drawing wider interest and securing licensing deals in the U.S. and Japan. The self-titled debut album followed two years later.
