Emerging from Los Angeles in 2010, the Mowgli's fuse Laurel Canyon folk and pop sensibilities—echoing the Byrds and the Beach Boys—with the off-kilter modern indie pop of Fun. and Grouplove. Centered on singer/songwriter Colin Dieden, the expansive collective originally featured David Applebaum, Spencer Trent, Matt Di Panni, Josh Hogan, Andy Warren, Katie Earl, and Michael Vincze, the last of whom departed in 2014. Their first full-length studio effort, Sound the Drum, appeared in 2012 alongside the EP Love's Not Dead. The following year brought their second album, Waiting for the Dawn. In 2015 the band issued Kids in Love, their third LP, produced in part by Captain Cuts and Matt Radosevich. Maintaining an active touring and festival schedule, they also backed the humanitarian group The International Rescue Committee that fall with the single “Room for All of Us.” After guitarist Spencer Trent exited, the remaining members enlisted producer Mike Green—known for his work with All Time Low and Paramore—to shape the 2016 release Where'd Your Weekend Go? A standalone track, “4AM,” surfaced in February 2017.
