Biography
Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer ElyOtto crafts synth-heavy, maximalist electronic music that he labels “hyperpop.” Wider recognition arrived after his 2021 single “SugarCrash!” spread virally, opening the door to the 2022 debut EP Hellscape Suburbia.
Born Elliott Ferrous-Martin in 2004, ElyOtto spent his childhood in Calgary, Canada, inside a creative household headed by musician parents. Although he had performed music since early childhood, only during his teenage years did he begin recording original material and circulating it online. His affection for EDM, combined with an examination of his transgender and LGBTQ+ identity, shaped a singular style he named “hyperpop.” The track “SugarCrash!” achieved viral status in 2020 and secured a deal with RCA Records. Subsequent releases included “Teeth” and “Luv Me Better.” In 2012 he also issued a remix of “SugarCrash!” featuring Kim Petras and Curtis Waters; the version later reached the Top Ten of Billboard’s Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart. His first EP, Hellscape Suburbia, appeared in 2022 and continued refining his synthy, DayGlo aesthetic. Alongside the singles “Stalker” and “DAYZEE,” the project contained a guest appearance by Tokyo Ghetto Pussy.
