Brisbane singer/songwriter Emma Louise earned early acclaim at home with her Independent Music Award-winning 2011 debut EP Full Hearts & Empty Rooms, yet remained largely undiscovered elsewhere until Berlin house maven Wankelmut delivered a remix of her single “Jungle.” That version unexpectedly topped charts in Italy during 2013 and quickly extended her reach across Europe. Serving as an introduction to her first full-length project, Vs Head vs Heart, the track highlighted the record’s singular sonic palette and its blend of electronica textures with adult contemporary pop. Pascal Gabriel, known for his work with Kylie Minogue and Ladyhawke, handled production duties on the follow-up Supercry, which surfaced in summer 2016. The following year brought a guest appearance on Flight Facilities’ “Arty Boy,” while early 2018 saw the release of two atmospheric singles that previewed her third studio album, Lilac Everything; A Project by Emma Louise, issued later that autumn. Tobias Jesso, Jr. produced the set, on which Louise processed her voice to a lower register, trading its natural soprano range for a warmer, more sultry baritone tone.
