Alex the Astronaut

Hailing from Australia, grassroots singer/songwriter Alex the Astronaut gained recognition through reflections on ordinary experiences that merged folk with electronica, a style showcased on her first full-length effort, the 2020 album The Theory of Absolutely Nothing.

Alexandra Lynn, known professionally as Alex the Astronaut, entered the world in Sydney and began presenting her acoustic folk approach within the city’s D.I.Y. circuit. She followed that activity by self-releasing her opening EP, To Whom It May Concern, in 2017. After securing rotation through national broadcaster Triple J’s Unearthed platform, she delivered her next recording, See You Soon, only months afterward. Across the subsequent two years she appeared at multiple festivals and headline shows, shared a co-headlining run with fellow Australian Stella Donnelly, and issued the concert set The Space Tour Live (At Your Place) in the middle of 2019. Early in 2020 she unveiled the single “I Think You’re Great,” the initial preview of her forthcoming debut album; several additional songs arrived before The Theory of Absolutely Nothing reached listeners late that year.
