Biography
In 2011 three respected Australian singer/songwriters—Sally Seltmann, Sarah Blasko, and Holly Throsby—formed the supergroup Seeker Lover Keeper. Their literate fusion of melodic indie pop and folk produced an eponymous debut that earned both critical praise and strong sales. Following a return to individual solo projects, the longtime friends reconvened the band in 2019 and issued the follow-up album Wild Seeds.
Mutual admirers, the three first discussed working together during a casual pub conversation in Sydney after Blasko and Throsby attended one of Seltmann’s performances. Plans initially centered on a shared tour, yet the notion of forming a band gradually took hold, with Seltmann proposing the name Seeker Lover Keeper. Each member contributed four original songs, and the group traveled to New York to record with Australian drummer Jim White (Dirty Three, Nina Nastasia) and engineer Victor Van Vugt (PJ Harvey, Nick Cave). Issued in June 2011, the self-titled album entered the ARIA Album chart at number three and later achieved platinum status. After touring in support, Seltmann, Blasko, and Throsby resumed their separate careers.
During Blasko’s 2016 residency on Double J digital radio, Seltmann and Throsby appeared with her for a session that revived interest in a second Seeker Lover Keeper release. The trio’s first joint stage appearance in seven years occurred in October 2018, after which they promptly entered the studio. Their second album, Wild Seeds, arrived in August of the following year.
