Enchant, a neo-prog ensemble based in San Francisco, traces its roots to 1989. That year marked the initial collaboration among guitarist and vocalist Doug Ott, keyboardist Michael "Benignus" Geimer, and drummer Paul Craddick. As the musicians developed multiple demo recordings, they expanded their roster by recruiting bassist Ed Platt along with vocalist Ted Leonard. This particular configuration committed to tape the band's first full-length effort, A Blueprint of the World, during 1993. Wounded appeared on the market two years afterward. Time Lost arrived in 1997 as the subsequent release. Break reached retailers in 1998, with Juggling 9 or Dropping 10 following in 2000. Departures by Geimer and Craddick prompted the addition of Sean Flanegan and Bill Jenkins to the lineup. The year 2002 brought Blink of an Eye, an album reflecting a heightened emphasis on songcraft. Tug of War, another studio recording, and the concert document Live at Last both emerged prior to the group's lengthy break from activity. That pause ended with live performances in 2012 and the issuance of The Great Divide as a 2014 comeback release.
