Biography
Evann McIntosh, a singer and songwriter, crafts an artful strain of dusky-voiced alt-pop and R&B. Well-earned comparisons to Prince and Billie Eilish have accompanied her work, which encompasses the 2019 debut album MOJO and the sophomore LP Character Development that arrived in 2021.
Born in 2004 in Monterey, California, she grew up in a military family whose travels included a stint in Germany before settling in Kansas. Guitar lessons began at age nine, and by her teens she was composing original songs shaped by a blend of '90s R&B and '70s rock, especially the music of Prince. A connection with artist and producer Jesty Beatz sparked ongoing collaboration and a series of buzzed-about tracks such as "Better Now" and "What Dreams Are Made Of," while a pairing with Sara Skinner yielded the song "How Does It Feel." After issuing her full-length debut MOJO in 2019, McIntosh signed with Mom + Pop Music and returned in 2021 with Character Development.
