Eve Angeli, a French pop singer, reached the height of her popularity between 2000 and 2002 after launching her recording career and receiving an NRJ Music Award as Best New French Artist. Born on August 25, 1980, in Sète, Hérault, France, she first attracted attention through her appearance on the television program Graines de Star in 1999. That exposure secured a recording deal with Sony Music and produced her initial single, “Avant de Partir,” issued in 2000. Serving as the lead track for her debut album Aime-Moi (2002), the song climbed to the Top Five on the French singles chart. Its successor “Elle” also performed strongly, entering the Top Ten, whereas the later releases “Je Sais” and “C’est Pour Ça” achieved more modest results; collectively the singles propelled Aime-Moi to number 11 on the French albums chart. In 2002 Angeli claimed the NRJ Music Award for Best New French Artist and issued her sophomore effort Nos Différences, whose title track became a modest success as a bilingual duet with the British boy band A1. Compared with her first album, however, Nos Différences underperformed commercially, prompting Angeli to step back from public view for several years. She returned in 2004 with the greatest-hits collection Le Meilleur d’Eve Angeli and the single “Une Chanson dans le Coeur,” which marked her strongest chart showing in some time. Her third studio album, Viens (2005), yielded moderate hits with its title track and “Je Vais T’aimer,” yet it signaled a further decline in sales and ended her tenure at Sony. In the years that followed she released the book Mes Evangélismes: Pensées d’une Blonde (2007) and, independently, the album Revolution (2008).
