Biography
The power pop sound of yesteryear receives a fresh update from California trio Everybody Else, whose members are Carrick Moore Gerety on guitar and lead vocals, Austin James Williams III on bass and vocals, and Mikey McCormack on drums, vocals, and occasional keyboards. The group took its name from the Kinks classic "I'm Not Like Everybody Else." Gerety and McCormack first crossed paths in Los Angeles after each had relocated there, with Gerety arriving from Massachusetts alongside his prior band The Push Kings and McCormack joining from Virginia with The Waking Hours. Though both earlier groups struggled in the city, the pair quickly developed a close friendship and creative partnership that prompted them to form a power trio. After cycling through several unsuitable bassists, they found Williams, who had moved from Fresno to the Silverlake neighborhood, completing the lineup. With him in place, Everybody Else began West Coast shows in 2003 and soon built a devoted local audience across California. Following the sell-out of a self-released single and the EP that came after, the band signed to independent label The Militia Group and tracked its self-titled debut album with producer Rick Parker, which appeared in spring 2007.
