Biography
Inspired by Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco, the Las Vegas quintet the Cab took shape in 2004 when high-school acquaintances Alex DeLeon on vocals and Cash Colligan on bass decided to form a group while still students. After posting early recordings on MySpace, the pair realized they needed additional musicians to develop their sound fully, so they enlisted Alex Johnson on drums, Alex Marshall on piano, and Ian Crawford on guitar. The expanded lineup began performing in local venues, gradually cultivating an audience before forwarding a demo to Panic at the Disco’s Spencer Smith. Impressed by what he heard, Smith facilitated their signing to the Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen imprint in 2007. Their first full-length effort, Whisper War, arrived the following year under the guidance of producer Matt Squire and was succeeded by extensive national touring with acts such as Hey Monday and the Hush Sound.
