Biography
Los Angeles-based outfit Fairground Saints blend an upbeat, breezy folk-pop approach with broad mainstream accessibility while anchoring the material in a solid roots foundation. What began as an acoustic pairing of California natives Mason Van Valin (vocals, guitar) and Elijah Edwards (vocals, guitar, mandolin, Dobro) expanded when the pair added Michigan native Megan McAllister (vocals, guitar, dulcimer) in 2014, rounding out the trio. Their rich three-part vocal blend and melodic folk sensibility sit midway between the territory of Nickel Creek and Fleetwood Mac. Early demos circulated by the group attracted attention from Verve/Universal, leading the label to team them with producer Matthew Wilder (No Doubt) for sessions that yielded their self-titled debut, released in August 2015.
