Biography
Humming House emerged from Nashville, Tennessee, with a sound built on energetic acoustic arrangements, layered harmonies, and a blend of progressive folk and country that echoes the Avett Brothers. Songwriter Justin Wade Tam, handling guitar, ukulele, and vocals, assembled the group in 2011. Bassist Benjamin Jones and mandolinist Josh Wolak joined him for the self-titled debut album Humming House, which appeared on Humble Mouse Records in 2012. Every member shared vocal duties, and the lineup expanded with fiddler and multi-instrumentalist Bobby Chase plus percussionist Leslie Rodriguez ahead of the live release Humming House Party! in 2014. The follow-up studio effort Revelries arrived in 2015, after which Rodriguez departed. The remaining four-piece then aligned with Soundly Music and Sony RED to issue Companion in 2017.
