Biography
Originating in Germany, Fall of Serenity arose in 1998 following the breakup of Contrition. That same year the group issued its debut effort, a split 12-inch vinyl single shared with Heaven Shall Burn. Alongside Caliban, Maroon, and several peers, Heaven Shall Burn helped define an emerging wave of acts that fused sociopolitical hardcore with melodic death metal. Fall of Serenity never matched the success of those contemporaries, cycling through multiple musicians and record labels while releasing Grey Man's Requiem in 2001, Royal Killing in 2003, and Bloodred Salvation in 2006. The last of those albums presented the then-current lineup of vocalist Renè Betzold, guitarists Eddy Langner and Alexander Fischer, bassist John Gahlert, and drummer Lutz Einenkel.
