Biography
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Ferraby Lionheart works as a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter in the folk-pop vein, pulling from a range of influences that includes Shel Silverstein, George Gershwin, Hank Williams, and Cole Porter. He stepped forward as frontman of the group Telecast in 2003, and the band delivered an EP on the U.K. imprint Falsetto. A mutual contact drew the notice of renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion, who brought him onstage to share a song. After several years leading Telecast, Lionheart shifted to solo work and put out a self-recorded EP captured with minimal instruments and basic gear. Nettwerk signed him and handled a digital re-release of the EP in February 2007, after which he booked shows with the Autumn Defense and the Walkmen that winter. His first album, Catch the Brass Ring, appeared in August 2007.
