Biography
Born in South Jersey, singer-songwriter Matt Duke spent his formative years there, taking up piano at age seven before teaching himself guitar a few years afterward. He relocated to Philadelphia for high school, where he started performing at area coffeehouses and cut several song demos that appeared on a compilation issued by Drexel University’s student-run Mad Dragon Records. Strong response to his tracks on that release led to the recording of his debut full-length, Winter Child, captured at Shinebox Studios in N.Y.C. and produced by Stewart Lerman, Stewart Smith, and Jim Klein; Mad Dragon released the album in 2006 with Ryko distribution. His second album, Kingdom Underground, followed in 2008, likewise distributed by Ryko.
