Tony Lucca, a Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and actor recognized for his soulful acoustic pop style, placed third on the 2012 edition of NBC’s The Voice. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, during 1976, he spent his childhood in nearby Waterford, where an early fascination with music took hold. As the grandson of Detroit jazz pianist James “Jimmy” Stevenson, Lucca began playing guitar at age three and, by twelve, was performing locally alongside his cousin, guitarist/vocalist Cole Garlak.

His drive to perform extended beyond music, prompting a move at fourteen to Florida with his mother after he secured a role on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club through audition. Following four years on that program, Lucca relocated to Los Angeles in 1995 to chase acting opportunities. There he appeared in commercials and co-starred with then-girlfriend Keri Russell in the brief Aaron Spelling-produced series Malibu Shores.

Shifting primary focus back to music, he issued his first album, So Satisfied, in 1997. That same year he established his website and followed with the second album, Strong Words Softly Spoken. Multiple EPs appeared afterward, and in 2001 he toured as opener for NSYNC alongside fellow Mickey Mouse Club veterans JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake.

Lucca’s third album, Shotgun, arrived in 2004 with Chasez serving as executive producer. Two years later came the roots-oriented Canyon Songs, then the more electronically charged Come Around Again in 2008. Returning to acting in 2010, he featured in a Timberlake-directed spot for 901 Silver Tequila and portrayed himself on an episode of NBC’s Parenthood while also releasing his sixth studio album, Rendezvous with Angels.

Lucca auditioned successfully for the second season of The Voice in 2012, landing on Adam Levine’s team rather than Christina Aguilera’s. He advanced to finish second runner-up. Afterward he signed with Levine’s 222 Records and issued the EP With the Whole World Watching. In 2015, after leaving that label, he released his eighth album, the fan-funded Tony Lucca.
