Matt Hires

At the age of 22, Florida native Matt Hires launched his recording career by unveiling confessional songwriting on the Live from the Hotel Cafe EP. Songwriting had first occupied the singer and songwriter during his late teens, after his father supplied a 1977 acoustic guitar that set the trajectory in motion. He promptly formed a rock band called Brer with several friends; the group issued two albums before disbanding. Hires then pursued a solo path, securing opening slots with Marc Broussard and the Dave Matthews Band ahead of the EP’s October 2008 release. His first full-length album, Take Us to the Start, appeared in 2009. Two further EPs, A to B and Live Sessions, surfaced in 2010. In 2013 he delivered his second studio album, This World Won't Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend.
