Biography
Frankmusik, born Vincent Frank in Croydon, England, serves as vocalist, keyboardist, and producer, shaping tracks that evoke Crystal Castles' chiptune-fueled mania alongside Imogen Heap's intelligent, bittersweet electro-pop. In fall 2007 he issued his debut EP Frankisum on Apparent Records, the imprint he established with David Norland. Universal/Island signed him shortly thereafter, drawn by the attention that project attracted. His first full-length album Complete Me arrived in 2009, reaching number 13 on the U.K. albums chart while spotlighting the singles "In Step," "Confusion Girl," and "3 Little Words." That same year he supported Keane and Pet Shop Boys on several U.K. dates and supplied remixes for Lady Gaga on "Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" plus Erasure on "Phantom Bride." Frank next moved to the United States, joining Interscope for the 2011 sophomore set Do It in the AM, which entered Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. He also helmed production on Erasure's Tomorrow's World, issued the identical year. Independent of major-label affiliation, he distributed the pay-what-you-can fundraising EP Far from Over through his own site in 2013 to support Oxfam. Later that year the third LP Between surfaced together with its acoustic counterpart Between Us; the latter introduced the fresh piano ballad "Hymn," a deliberate nod to the homonym "him." By Nicole followed in 2014, succeeded a year later by For You. The artist's sixth studio album Not Right Now was slated for summer 2016.
