Biography
Born on September 3, 1984, in Roseau, Minnesota, Garrett John Hedlund was the youngest of three children raised by parents Kristi and Robert Hedlund. His early years unfolded on a cattle farm near Wannaska, Minnesota, until age fourteen, when he relocated with his mother to Scottsdale, Arizona. Already drawn to acting, he secured representation from a talent agency while still in high school. After earning his diploma in 2003, he headed straight to Los Angeles to pursue film work. His screen introduction arrived swiftly in 2004 with a part in the Brad Pitt–led Troy, followed the same year by an appearance in Friday Night Lights. The next year brought a role in Four Brothers, and momentum built from there through Eragon in 2006 and Georgia Rule in 2007, where he shared scenes with Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan. Leading parts materialized by the time of Tron: Legacy in 2010. He also ventured into music via his performance in the 2011 film Country Strong, playing a country-folk singer opposite Gwyneth Paltrow. To deliver his own material on screen and on the accompanying soundtrack album, Hedlund refined his guitar playing and vocal abilities.
