Biography
Gia Koka works as a songwriter, producer, and vocalist whose soulful electropop sound emerged alongside early freelance songwriting jobs. Born in Poland and raised in the Netherlands, she issued her debut album, Kissing the Outcast, in 2012 on the Dutch imprint The Flying Rooster under the alias Natalia Jayden. During a stint in Hollywood, California, where she penned material for Leona Lewis and Leslie Clio, she also completed a full-length tribute to her younger brother Dymitri following his sudden death. Released in 2013 by Winter Boy Records, the album Dymitri blended jazz-inflected adult contemporary R&B.
A string of electronic-pop and EDM collaborations soon followed, all anchored by her distinctive vocal timbre. Mid-2015 brought her feature on GANZ’s “Cold Fire,” the project of Dutch producer Jordy Saämena, and that autumn she issued “Fly-By-Night” with Mydien. December saw the arrival of “Unbroken,” a track by Quintino and Yves V that included her vocals. Throughout 2016 she lent her voice to recordings by SRNO and the Him, while also unveiling her own reflective single “Come Pick Me Up” in October. The following month she appeared on the DVBBS-CMC$ dance single “Not Going Home,” which accumulated millions of streams by spring 2017.
