Gidge

Originating from Umea, Sweden, the duo Gidge comprises producers and instrumentalists Ludvig Stolterman and Jonatan Nilsson. The pair first met as friends during high school, where they connected through a mutual appreciation for electronic music. From there they began making tracks that fuse electronic rhythms with live percussion and additional organic instruments, some captured in field-recording fashion amid the surrounding forests. Gidge introduced their debut album Autumn Bells in 2014; the release drew widespread online attention and opened the door to their second full-length, LNLNN, which arrived in 2017. The Swedish duo is recognized for an ambient strain of environmental techno that merges nature sounds and real percussion with electronic production. Their third album, New Light, followed in 2020.
