Icelandic performer Glowie crafts assured pop shaped by R&B influences. Her first release on a major label arrived in 2018 as the body-positive track "Body."
Sara Pétursdóttir, raised in Reykjavík by parents deeply involved in music—her mother occasionally provided backing vocals for her father's group—absorbed the sounds of Destiny's Child, Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift from an early age. Around nine she developed a strong drive to sing, and during her teenage years she began frequenting studios while taking the name Glowie. At eighteen, in 2015, StopWaitGo issued her track "No More" that featured Stony. Two years later she appeared on iLL BLU's "Tribalist (Get to Know)," and after moving to London she issued her Columbia Records debut "Body" in 2018, a song penned by Julia Michaels. The next single, 2019's "Cruel," received co-writing contributions from Grammy- and Emmy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi.
