Brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha form the Los Angeles-based duo Grey, who have earned multi-platinum honors through their refined fusion of EDM and pop. Their global breakthrough arrived with the 2016 single “Starving,” a quadruple-platinum-certified U.S. release featuring Hailee Steinfeld and Zedd, while 2018’s “The Middle,” again alongside Zedd and also Maren Morris, reached the summit of multiple international charts and collected three Grammy nominations. After further joint projects, the pair turned toward more introspective material on the two 2020 EPs LIGHT and DARK.

Initially operating without public identities, Grey surfaced in 2015 through atmospheric-guitar remixes of recordings by Zedd, Kaskade, and Jack Ü that contrasted with abrupt, piercing synth lines. The brothers forwarded these reworkings to Skrillex, who alerted Zedd; the latter’s reposts quickly drew thousands of new listeners. Their profile rose sharply in 2016 when “Starving,” the Zedd collaboration with singer/actress Hailee Steinfeld, achieved widespread commercial success. They followed it with the more daring “Adrenaline,” again co-produced by Zedd. In 2017 they joined Swedish alt-pop singer Skott for “Crime.” Another Zedd partnership, 2018’s “The Middle” featuring Maren Morris, held the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 33 weeks and earned three Grammy nominations.

Building on that momentum, the duo released the 2019 single “Want You Back” with LÉON, then additional tracks such as “Grey Area” with Sofia Carson and “Body Count” featuring Thutmose. Later they unveiled the 2020 EPs LIGHT and DARK, both written, performed, and sung solely by the brothers without external contributors.
