Biography
G.R.L. functions as a four-member girl group whose members sing and dance to a style of R&B-inflected pop driven by dance rhythms. Dancer, choreographer, and entrepreneur Robin Antin assembled the project in 2011 to continue her Pussycat Dolls franchise, yet the act had developed a distinct pop character of its own by 2013. Simone Battle, Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen comprise the roster. The group placed its debut single, "Vacation," on the 2013 Smurfs 2 soundtrack. During 2014 the members issued multiple follow-up singles, among them "Show Me What You Got" and the Dr. Luke-produced "Ugly Heart," and they also delivered their first EP, G.R.L., that July. The quintet further appeared on rapper Pitbull's single "Wild, Wild Love" that same year.
