H-Blockx

H-Blockx originated in the German city of Münster during 1991 as an alternative metal outfit infused with punk elements, drawing its moniker from Irish colloquial terminology denoting maximum-security jail units. The founding members consisted of vocalist and rapper Henning "MC-H" Wehland alongside guitarist Tim Tenambergen, bassist Stefan "Gudze" Hinz, and drummer Johann-Christoph "Mason" Maass, with singer/rapper David Gappa joining the ensemble in 1992. Their first long-player, Time to Move, came out via the domestic imprint Sing Sing in 1994 and achieved notable success throughout German-speaking territories. The subsequent release Discover My Soul surfaced two years later, further cementing their standing, though drummer Maass departed after a dismissal in 1997, giving way to Marco Minneman in the percussion role. The band's next effort, Fly Eyes, arrived in 1998 and marked their formal introduction to American audiences one year thereafter. During 1999, they also contributed fresh tracks to the score of the local movie Bang Boom Bang while swapping out Minneman for Steffen Wilking on drums.
