Biography
Originally assembled in 1999 from ex-members of Rage, Sub7even featured vocalist Daniel Wirtz, guitarists Sven Fischer and Spiros Efthimiadis, keyboardist Christian Wolff, drummer Christos Efthimiadis, and bassist Rob Protzmann. An early contract with BMG enabled the release of their debut album Sub7even in 2000. The group devoted most of the following year to live dates across Germany in an effort to strengthen their following, issuing the single Wicked during that period. In 2002 they recorded Free Your Mind, their version of the En Vogue hit, which stood out for the direct participation of En Vogue on the track. The subsequent album Free Your Mind enjoyed strong sales yet also ended the band’s association with BMG. Further personnel shifts arrived in 2003 when Fischer, Protzmann, and Wolff departed, the last of whom turned his attention to production work. The remaining members released Lovechansrockets in May 2006. In 2007 another departure occurred when Kai Lemke, who had replaced Protzmann on bass, left the lineup.
